Branded grocery price survey shows 14% drop in prices

The National Consumer Agency (NCA) has published the findings of its latest, and largest ever, branded grocery price survey on it's website.

The survey compares the price of a basket of branded grocery items in Tesco, Dunnes Stores, Superquinn and SuperValu.

The most interesting findings were:

  • Grocery prices have dropped in the region of 14% between January 2009 and July 2010.
  • There is virtually no price difference on branded goods between Tesco, Dunnes Stores and Superquinn.
  • The cost of this basket was cheapest in Dunnes Stores and most expensive in Superquinn.
